QHA TRENT, the independent holistic clinical accreditation scheme for hospitals and clinics based in Sheffield in the United Kingdom, have recently completed the survey of Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, a leading private sector hospital in the Philippines, and the hospital has been successful in obtaining accreditation. Unlike ISO and industry based standards which some hospitals and clinics make use of, QHA Trent is a clinically-based scheme which puts patients first and looks at things from the patients’ point of view. Survey team always include a senior doctor from UK and it is solidly based on the well-known British system of NHS clinical governance which is one of the most tried and trusted systems for delivering safe healthcare in the world.
Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital is the first university hospital in the country and Southeast Asia to become independently accredited by QHA Trent from the United Kingdom. Allied to their success in the Philippines’ own national accreditation scheme, this definitely represents a great achievement by a very forward looking hospital, and congratulations are in order.
