It is a concept that should permeate the entire health care system. It should be comprehensive and should include prevention, early recognition, outpatient, inpatient, and extended care programs.
The department envisions itself as the premier center for physical medicine and rehabilitation, treating physical, developmental, speech and language, social and psychological disability with the purpose of bringing patients back into society as functional human beings.

Serve as a source of expertise in the field of rehabilitation medicine in the dissemination of disability awareness, prevention and treatment.
To give a comprehensive physiatric evaluation and diagnosis of disability,
utilizing the various medical specialties and diagnostic tools of the hospital.
To provide a holistic rehabilitation prescription, involving the different
paramedical services such as physical and occupational therapy.
To continually update rehabilitation equipment, modalities and facilities
necessary in the delivery of quality patient care.
To create an atmosphere conducive to training for students for physical and occupational therapy combining the use of updated techniques and
modalities in the rehabilitation of disabled patients.
To employ qualified and competent personnel, able to provide professional
rehabilitative services to patients as well as to train students.
To provide staff development programs that are adequate for all levels of
personnel.
To give regular seminars to the community on disability awareness,
prevention and treatment.
